How it tears our hearts to say goodbye, to a friend whose greatest joy was us. These quiet, unassuming creatures whose very spirit shines brightly in their eyes. These glorious marvels of loyalty who ask only leave to follow and obey. Who, through example show us that life is what we make of it. They give real meaning to the phrase when life gives you lemons..make lemonade. We humans tend too often to forget about what it is in life that is truly valuable. But no dog ever does!!

I never had a dog who failed to forgive me no matter how wrong I was!! I never had a dog who failed to reflect in their eyes every sorrow I felt as well as every joy!! I never had a dog who would show any real impatience or anger towards me. I never had a dog who would seek to harm or to punish me in any way. Even though I know there were times I deserved it!! I never had a dog judge me for the fool I know I have sometimes been. I never had a dog show preference for another person over me!! So then, what is it that makes us think we are so superior to them??
